The Art Studios - About Us

The Art Studios was originally created as a program of the regional health authority, (Vancouver Coastal Health). It started in 1992 and was called "Fiddle Faddle Art Centre" until it was named "The Art Studios".

Almost 29 years later, the program continues today under the umbrella of Mood Disorders Association of BC, a branch of Lookout Housing and Health Society.

The Art Studios is an art based program for people living with a mental health diagnosis.  Through art and mutual support, members develop their artistic talents, confidence and life skills. The Art Studios offers a safe environment and the sense of community that is so important for members who often struggle with isolation.

Our program today consists of classes, workshops, art therapy and online lessons.  We are pleased to continue offering a variety of mediums including - acrylic, watercolor, printmaking, photography, drawing, pottery - and more!  We provide opportunities for peers to mentor, assist, or instruct art sessions

"This class has helped my moods and build confidence.  I was able to learn quickly and was very touched that my work was printed in the 2022  calendar.  All the staff were so kind and one feels relaxed to come to the class. I actually look forward to [class day]"
